Many people come to me and ask me: “How can I close down?” People who go to quickly with their mediumship development often find that they are open, and believe that everything they see or feel is because of spirit. When you have opened up, in point of fact, you become a dumping ground for everybody else’s feelings. Especially if you feel that it is your job to rescue people from their personal problems. Before I work I open up and after I finished my work I close down, and then I am just Terry. I do not walk around open all the time.
The Mountain Meditation is an excellent tool for opening and closing down to spirit and it can take you to different levels of consciousness. My guides have very often shown themselves in the Mountain Meditation, it was them who taught me how to use it. The meditation has guided me to places within that I did not realise I had. This form of meditation has also helped many other people. Furthermore, it has been part of a research project in China, were it also proved how valuable it is in other ways.
Grey Owl, is another character in my team. He has also been guiding me for many years. He took me on a journey into my inner world. In a very kind and gentle way he introduced aspects of myself that had a negative effect on me as a person. He told me that if I did not work with these negative aspects and brought them into the light of consciousness they would become a hindrance in my life. It could have an effect on my work as a medium. Those hindrances, we can call it my ego, could contaminate the messages I give from a spirit contact.
He also told me that should I not work with this I would find myself going back into the same situations again and again, and that would not serve me. From the time he first introduced himself to me in the late eighties he has taken me on an incredible journey to recognise what I am and who I am as a human being. One of the hardest challenges a human being has is to meet is who we really are. The most amazing thing as I have made this journey and I discovered new things about myself, what was a weakness in character when I brought it into the light became a strength.
Yes, we can become a channel for spirit, but I do not believe that is what makes us a spiritual person. We have to become aware of our egos and how they operate. In meeting the ego and confronting it I have discovered a freedom within myself I never knew I had before. I had confidence to meet new challenges that Ascala and Grey Owl gave me. It enabled me to leave behind aspects that did no longer serve me. I discovered that I had other skills and I developed a new attitude.
As a medium and in the work with personal development, having the Mountain Meditation to go to, one could say it is almost as if I have been given a passport to levels of consciousness that my ego or intellect would never reach. I no longer feel as if I have to be everything to everyone. I can make mistakes and say sorry. It has enabled me to have a much better working structure in my life. To set lines. The most important thing of all that it has taught me is that no human being can be anything to everyone. As a medium or healer you cannot be everything. The spirits work through you and use you as a channel.
All my guides want me to be is Terry Evans and to take more responsibility for my own everyday life. So, the MM has proved to be a very valuable friend and travel companion as I walk my pathway in everyday life. Just a few minutes ago I was talking to one of my ex-students that has been using the MM for many years. Helen Engström is her name and she has herself sent in an article herself about the method to Ascala News.
