A few years ago I attended the conference “Toward a science of consciousness (TSC)”, which was held at the University of Helsinki. During the week there were many interesting lectures to choose from and many of the keynote speakers were very inspiring to listen to. My purpose was to attend as an observer to get a picture of what is happening in the scientific world. The conference was international and there were people there from all over the world.

It was interesting to see how the academics from the East and the West were different in outlook and belief, especially the Indian culture or the eastern cultures that both have much of the scientific research and a very strong spiritual base, whereas those from the western world generally speaking base their finding on fact, science. Of course there were opposing schools of thought regarding philosophy of science and it was interesting, and at times entertaining, to witness how steadfastly some were defending their belief or scientific findings.

An open mind
As a person who has been a leader in industry and who has travelled through life as a medium my own perception of science of mind and consciousness is based on events and experiences, as opposed to scientific research. The science I believe in is that the consciousness has many levels. As yet there is no scientific model that can prove or disprove the existence of a higher intelligence. When I want to investigate something I make every effort to research it with an open mind without bias or scepticism. I have found that in my own studies into consciousness; if I have an open-minded approach much more can be achieved.

Intelligent collaboration
Looking towards the future, in order to create a new era of consciousness I do not believe we can dismiss the existence of a higher intelligence, because it can offer us the information that can help us create a bridge to the future. How do we achieve this? By using people who can connect with this intelligence I speak of, that can help us go forward together with the scientists, especially those working within the field of biophysics. With intelligent collaboration perhaps new doors can be opened between mediums and scientist, in order for us to have a deeper understanding of consciousness.

Unchartered resource
There are many people like myself, who as mediums and channels receive information from the higher intelligence (the spirit dimensions) that could be beneficial to science. But a high percentage of the scientific fraternity I believe are stuck in traditional scientific values. Yes, there were certain scientists at the conference that where honest enough to say: We have not even scratched the surface of what could be probable. However, for me there is a key factor that is missing, should there be this higher intelligence why are we reluctant to use the vast resource it can offer?

The higher intelligence in which I believe in, if we approach it with humility, it will give us information that carry seeds that sown within a fertile mind will eventually bear fruit. I know of many scientists and researchers that have this open and fertile mind but they are sitting on the fence, afraid of their reputation and career to be ridiculed.

If there is an open minded scientist that is sitting on the fence ready to jump off I would be very interested to meet them for an open minded discussion.

Terry Evans interest in parapsychology and mediumship began at an early age. His first encounter with an actual spiritualist medium came at the age of 22, when he was given his first private consultation by a medium. The effects of that experience were to prove to be a turning point in his life, offering new realisations. These realisations motivated Terry to develop his own inner potential of mediumship and intuition.
