I heard news the past weekend that a dear friend had passed away. Her name was Gudrun Marteins.

She was a very good teacher and healer, who worked endlessly for spirit and the many people that she came into contact with. I knew that something was happening, but when I received news that she had left this world it was still quite a shock. I have always respected her for her work and her big heart.

In meeting her a very big door opened in my life. She offered great support in the beginning of my professional career. She could not have given me more down through the years. As I met her, I also got to know her family, who invited me in with open arms. They became what I call my Islandic family. They gave me a lot during my time in Iceland. Good, ordinary people. When I needed an ally, Gudrun stood by my side. She could also be very straight with me, when the situation needed. I firmly believe I became much richer as a human being by the mere fact that she came into my life.

Since hearing the news, it has been like putting my brain on paus and allowing all the memories of our friendship to come back. It made me even more aware of the love and care they had given me. I will never forget when Gudrun first invited me to go to Iceland to work for her. I had never worked as a professional medium. It was time to go from expanding my gift and my knowledge to start working professionally.

When I opened up to work today there she was waiting for me. One thing she showed very clearly was her beautiful eyes. It reminded me how she would illuminate when she was happy. She walked with me as I was preparing to give private readings in the morning. Funny enough with the first consultation the telephone was acting up. Afterwards I realised what it meant, she just wanted to let me know that she was around. I hear her voice saying: “I just wanted to watch you doing your work.”

I write this article as acknowledgement of our friendship and the help she gave me that enabled me to become the person I am today. I was not able to attend her funeral, so I thought: What could I give to honour her? She loved flowers. That was the greatest gift you could give her. So, as I write this text today, I offer her a bouquet of flowers from my heart, for the happy times we shared together. This is my way of sending my love to her. My wish for her now that she has arrived in the spirit world is that all the people she has helped will be there to share the light of her soul.

Gudrun was quite a private person and did not like to be in the lime light. She had no interest in becoming a famous healer, but that is what she became all over Iceland. She touched the lives of many people. Gudrun dedicated her life to helping others and I am quite sure that in the annals of history her name will go down in writing. She will be remembered for the outstanding work she did for others. The memory of Gudrun will always be firmly imprinted on my soul and I do believe I affected her life too. Where there is respect there is love and vice versa. This morning I did not have to say good bye to her, just fare well until we meet again.

May the spirit of the dove always be your companion. Farewell until we meet again.

Terry Evans interest in parapsychology and mediumship began at an early age. His first encounter with an actual spiritualist medium came at the age of 22, when he was given his first private consultation by a medium. The effects of that experience were to prove to be a turning point in his life, offering new realisations. These realisations motivated Terry to develop his own inner potential of mediumship and intuition.
