Springtime is beginning to knock on the door. The garden always fascinates me when it starts coming alive after a long winter – its magic is endless. The change from winter to springtime is also a time that has taught me to observe the here and now, as the earth offers up new life, beauty in colour. Everyday life is not too different. Once we allow our mind to stand still whatever our mood or the situation that we find ourselves in, we can see that the cycle of life always will give us what we need to keep us in balance.
Living in Sweden and travelling over this country for the past 25 years, I still can be moved by the astounding nature this land offers. To live in Fanthyttan is a privilege. I am surrounded by nature. When I leave my work and walk through the garden back to my house at the end of the day the power of nature whispers to me with its’ soothing voice. It can be the wind blowing through the trees, the sound of birdsong or the rustling in the undergrowth by some unseen creature. For me that is the language of nature.
When our minds race ahead, so do our lives and very often we miss those magic moments that can bring great meaning, purpose, motivation, creativity and quality to our lives.
The more I live in the now I realise how many opportunities I have missed. I see much more now, my awareness has grown and I have a better connection with what is happening within me and around me. My life has changed; I am calmer and ready to accept what is. It is a nice place to be, and some days are better than others, but even on the darkest days, even if just briefly, the magic of life always offers something that will help me appreciate the here and now.
