The holiday is over, it was a bit short, but there has not been much time for a holiday this year. Astrid and I at least spent ten lazy days in Spain, having a lot of fun socialising and doing different things. One thing that was really interesting was going to these mud baths in Torrevieja. You smear yourself with mud, it apparently has healing properties that are good for the skin, and then you just stand in the sunshine to let it dry out. There was about ten of us and we looked like ghouls emerging from the sea. We looked hilarious! This was the day after we arrived, so one could say the first day was like a cleansing day.
Astrid and I had been invited there by Graham who works for me. He had decided to celebrate his 60th birthday for the whole year. Some members of his family had met up in Spain. It was an interesting mix of Englishmen and Swedes. An intense time with a lot of fun. Meeting Graham’s family was in some ways like going back to my own roots. They are really good people, it was a pleasure meeting them.
Returning home to Sweden the reality quickly set in: Time to get back to work and get ready for the next season of work! At the same time it was nice to get back, it kind of brought me back to earth. Going always is nice, but there is no place like home.
Unfortunately we are still having problems with our website, but that will hopefully be solved in the near future. Right now things may appear a bit chaotic, but we are really trying to work towards being able to offer a much better service. Ascala News will be changing and we are going to try make the site more effective for the people visiting our website. I must say I find it a bit embarrassing that things are taking this long, but my feeling is things are being slowed down for a reason.
We are looking forward to seeing where the autumn will take us. As I am writing I look out of the window and the garden almost look like a jungle now, with all the rain and the sun that the summer has offered so far. Graham and I have been working hard on giving the old school and its garden a face lift.
This time of year I always feel a bit melancholic, when autumn is beginning to show its face. Spring and summer are my favourite seasons.
I hope you have had a good summer and that you have done nice things to recharge your battery.
