So much is conducted via social media today, both privately and business wise. We do not talk to one another the same way any longer. Instead, we communicate via text messages and emails etcetera. Modern day technology has removed us from the wonderful communication we experience through, not just words, but also feelings. At heart I am still an old-fashioned man, so therefore I feel so much is lost. What effect does this have on our verbal communication skills?

I believe we have to be very careful so that social media do not become an addiction. If we are not part of it, we feel as if we are missing out. We need to be fed with information all the time, but the information we receive through social media is not always relevant. Often it is just pure rubbish.

The day we stop talking to one another or are completely dependent on social media that is a sad day. Mobile phones are necessary to day, to some extent, but if the telephone is always in our hand… I watched a woman crossing a street without looking left or right. She was completely absorbed by her phone and almost got run over.

Social media does have its advantages if we use discretion, and a mobile telephone can be a fantastic tool for communication and it is good to have should the unexpected happen and you find yourself in the middle of nowhere. But, this frenzy amongst people, especially young people, for me that is frightening. If you are not online, you do not exist.

We have seen the dark side of social media, where it is used for terrorism, grooming, bullying etcetera. It can create so much darkness. When this happens, where is the protection for the innocent victim? It opens doors for so many unpleasant entities, with a quest to hurt people in different manners. I wonder how many of you have examples of events where social media have been used to hurt or destroy someone. We have to be emotionally responsible for what we say or do, even on social media. Behind every device there is a human being.

Sure, we need technology today, but when we stop talking, stop feeling, stop thinking there is a danger. Think about what you are doing. Do you need to be connected all the time? We have an amazing computer in our minds. If we develop that it will give us far more than social media can ever give us.

For me our feelings are the most important thing. When I translate them into words, they give me a lot of information about myself. I want to share what I feel and that is why I write here on my blog. It does not mean I am always right. It is for other people to decide whether what I write is for them or not.

I hope this blog text will help offer you some food for thought.

Terry Evans interest in parapsychology and mediumship began at an early age. His first encounter with an actual spiritualist medium came at the age of 22, when he was given his first private consultation by a medium. The effects of that experience were to prove to be a turning point in his life, offering new realisations. These realisations motivated Terry to develop his own inner potential of mediumship and intuition.
