I have had some interesting insights lately, not just into myself but regarding what people think a medium can do. Some think that just because you are a medium or a healer, working with spirit that means you are in perfect balance all the time. We are just like every other person in this world, we have our good and our bad days. Such is everyday life, it always offers us all challenges on a personal level.

Yes, we work for spirit, but it is our own responsibility to deal with everyday life. Somebody said to me not long ago: “Surely, if you work for spirit you do not have to worry or stress. You have spirit supporting you.” But of course we experience these things too! The challenge for me, when I meet problems or something that is difficult to resolve, is to meet those difficulties without them taking me over. When I meet them in an emotionally intelligent way they help me not become a victim of my own feelings. It certainly works. That keeps me in balance. My spirit guide does not come along and fix everything for me.

‘The spirits and guides I am familiar with can only help people who want to help themselves.

Yes, I am a medium, but all that really means is that I am a person with abilities. In one sense they are two separate things, also living in the same house. We mediums also have to learn to solve our own problems and think for ourselves. People who come to me for readings sometimes think that spirit can solve everything for them, but they also have to be responsible for their actions and thinking, and in finding solutions. The spirits and guides I am familiar with can only help people who want to help themselves.

One of the biggest challenges for me is to become more aware of myself, my thoughts and actions. Do I get it right all the time? Of course not. Without the challenges life offers life would be meaningless. Life is beautiful, but perhaps not all the time.

What do you think?

Terry Evans interest in parapsychology and mediumship began at an early age. His first encounter with an actual spiritualist medium came at the age of 22, when he was given his first private consultation by a medium. The effects of that experience were to prove to be a turning point in his life, offering new realisations. These realisations motivated Terry to develop his own inner potential of mediumship and intuition.
