One philosophy that has interested me for a long time is Buddhism. I am no expert on that philosophy, but it attracts me like a magnet. Buddhists focus on finding the answers within. My guide Ascala shows himself as a Buddhist monk, and what a beautiful energy he carries!

Our mind can become so cluttered with demands, wishes and thoughts. We really need to slow down and quieten our thoughts to get anywhere. We need to teach our mind that there is an alternative. For instance, I have to quieten my mind if I am going to connect with spirit. They need time to bring forth the information they wish to convey through me to a client. When our minds are cluttered, we try to reach answers in desperation. We want the answers now!

Spirit can only come through a mind that is not blocked with thoughts and demands. So, whether I am working with meditation or whatever, it is very important for me to be able to remove the clutter created by my ego.

Why is it that we clutter our mind? I would say it is because we do not have patience. We just want to add water, whisk and it is ready. We also believe we are able to find all the answers by thinking, but it is not like that. We need to stop looking for instant change or answers. That will never happen.

When I manage to create a calm meeting place within, devoid of the presence of ego, things start happening. What I talk of now is a discipline that I have worked on for many years. It has certainly helped me with my personal development and the way in which I live. The answers we seek do not always come in one or two sentences. They come bit by bit and we cannot hurry that process. It is always about patience.

Just open your mind and turn into a simple and peaceful place within your mind. That is where things will start to happen. There you will unconsciously build a bridge to your soul’s intelligence where all the answers lie. The soul’s intelligence will respond to you when you stop demanding and instead silence your mind. Just sit in this place without expectations, not asking questions. Then the answers will begin to come to you. You will feel it. The door suddenly opens and you will know. It takes time to learn to practice this, but it works.

One thing that will connect you with your soul’s intelligence is not being in a hurry, because if you are, you are just blocking it. This has helped me realise who I am and connected me to my soul’s intelligence, which is not about academic intelligence, it is what we bring with us into this life time. It has helped me move forward and leave old things behind.

The answer lies within, but to discover yourself you have to be patient. Then you will reach your true self. That is what Ascala has taught me. Sometimes I have received answers all of a sudden, when out walking or eating a meal, then “Ping!” Just like a message on the phone. And it has always happened when I have been in need of guidance.

Spirit has also taught me to dare to be who I really am, and not be ashamed of who I am. Make friends with your ego, do not fight it. We do not always reach the things that we want, but we become much more aware. Keep an open mind and tell yourself the truth about yourself, without judgement.

When you start this journey, it is not going to be a straight road and sometimes we do not think anything is moving, but it is. Patience. My journey has been both though and filled with laughter.

If I can do it, so can you.

Terry Evans interest in parapsychology and mediumship began at an early age. His first encounter with an actual spiritualist medium came at the age of 22, when he was given his first private consultation by a medium. The effects of that experience were to prove to be a turning point in his life, offering new realisations. These realisations motivated Terry to develop his own inner potential of mediumship and intuition.
