Globally we find ourselves in this situation where we do not have the control that we are used to. No one can, at this moment in time, know what the outcome will truly be. For me this is a test with regard to our personal beliefs. Do we believe in a higher power? It is only when we meet testing times in life that our personal belief in a higher intelligence is tested.
People ask me: What do you think will happen, Terry? I cannot say, because the responsibility lies with mankind in this case: How will we deal with this, on a personal level and globally? It is like with us in our personal lives, how we react and behave ultimately comes back to us. I do not feel that any higher intelligence at this moment clearly can predict exactly where this is going to take us, it is up to us. In a difficult time, such as this, there are always going to be different opinions, individual countries trying to find solutions etcetera. This virus has caught us by surprise, but no one can avoid personal responsibility.
I hear a lot of opinions about what the government should have done, but I do not believe anybody could have been prepared for this, and therein lies the lesson. When the virus was known the WHO tried to spread the word and recommendations, but at the time we did not know much about it. Fact is now it is here and util solutions can be found, we have to live with this reality. Casting blame on others will not solve anything. We have to be patient and not turn this into a mudslinging contest. One thing is for sure, trying to destroy others will never take us anywhere as human beings.
The spirit that talks to me gives me glimpses, but as a lot of well-educated people have said: We have to learn from this and work together. It has stretched resources to the limit and beyond. The global effect has been far reaching. The interesting thing is, it has shown how vulnerable us humans are and how ill prepared we were, because we never expected something like this to happen or… did we?
We could fall back into a sense of lethargy thinking it will never happen again, but these things do. We can laugh at the prophets who have talked about famine, flooding, sickness and war, but wherever we look in this world all of this exists.
In the Bible it says: The meek shall inherit the earth. There is a lot of power in those words. My analogy of that is the ordinary people working to take care of others, stepping forward and doing their utmost to take care of others. They are the strong, but they do not see themselves as heroes, they just give.
I remember the chorus from an old song, ironically often sung at football matches in England: “Walk on walk on with hope in your heart and you will never be alone”. Listen to the song, I find it inspiring. The lyrics is what I remind myself of every day. Never to give up hope about my dreams, my future and my life. I have learned the same from my friend Ascala.
